It’s an alternating series of powers of 3 and 2. Current term in this series is defined as :
if index is odd, base is 3, else the base is 2, whereas the exponent is sum of base and exponent of previous term.

        For the given case :

        1st term : 1 = 3 ^ 0, base = 3 and exponent = 0.

        2nd term : 8 = 2 ^ 3 base = 2 and exponent = 3(previous base) + 0(previous exponent) = 3.

        3rd term : 243 = 3 ^ 5 base = 3 and exponent = 2(previous base) + 3(previous exponent) = 5.

        4th term : 256 = 2 ^ 8 base = 2 and exponent = 3(previous base) + 5(previous exponent) = 8.

        5th term : 59049 = 3 ^ 10 base = 3 and exponent = 2(previous base) + 8(previous exponent) = 10.
