To solve this, replace a n digit number by adding all digits, and solve, keep on repeating it until you get single digit.

10×11×12={(1+0)×(1+1)×(1+2)}^2 =6^2=36=3+6=9

11×12×13={(1+1)×(1+2)×(1+3)}^2 =24^2 =(2+4)^2=36=3+6=9

12×13×14={(1+2)×(1+3)×(1+4)}^2 =60^2 =(6+0)^2 =36 =3+6=9

13×14×15={(1+3)×(1+4)×(1+5)}^2 =120^2 =(1+2+0)^2 =9

14×16×20={(1+4)×(1+6)(2+0)}^2 =70^2 =(7+0)^2 =49 =4+9=13=1+3=4

here a-b=axa+(a/2)x(a/2)-axb

2-1=2×2+(2/2)x(2/2)-2×1=3
8-5=8×8+(8/2)x(8/2)-8×5=40
4-4=4×4+(4/2)x(4/2)-4×4=4
thus
10-10=10×10+(10/2)x(10/2)-10×10=25

Three blue and two red hats puzzle

November 3, 2015 by puzzler 1 Comment

3-blue-and-2-red-hatsAt a party, four people played a game. Three of them sat one behind the other, so that Abe saw Bill and Cal, and Bill only saw Cal, who sat in front and saw nobody else.

Dave had 5 hats which he showed to his three friends. Three of the hats were blue and two were red.

Now Dave placed a hat on the head of each of his three friends, putting aside the remaining two hats.

Then he asked Abe what color his hat was.

Abe said he couldn’t tell.

Bill was asked the color of his own hat, but he didn’t know for certain either.

Cal, though he couldn’t see any hat at all, gave the right answer when asked what color his hat was.

Do you know what color Cal’s hat was and how he reasoned to find out the correct answer?

What could be the dates ?

October 20, 2015 by hit dalal 2 Comments

One guy had a habit of spending the money as per the day of the month, for example he will spend $18 on 18th of the month.

Once he spent, $63 in continuous 5 days, What could be the dates ?

What was the first day ?

Tried enough already?
Click here to See SolutionHide
Case 1)
lets assume all the days were of the same month, in that case
x + (x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) + (x+4) = 63
5x = 53
x is coming out to be in decimal, which can not be

Case 2)
now the other possibility is such that month changes after some days

thus there can be few possibilities

A) x + (x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) + 1 = 63

4x = 56 => x = 14, but 1st cant come after 17th, so it is ruled out

B) x + (x+1) + (x+2) + 1 + 2 = 63
3x = 57 => x = 19, but again 1st cant come after 21, so it is ruled out as well

C) x + (x+1) + 1 + 2 + 3 = 63
2x = 56 => x = 28, this is possible for the month with 29 days, i.e. February of leap year

so thee dates were 28,29,1,2,3

Paradox Dragons

August 5, 2015 by ELURU SIVARAM PRASAD Leave a Comment

dragon paradox

I met three dragons. One always tells the truth, other one always lies and the last one alternates between lie and truth.

Dragon 1: You may ask us one question, then you must guess which dragon is which

Dragon 2: He’s lying. You may get three questions

Dragon 3: Oh no. It’s definitely one question

I asked the first dragon a question

Me: What would the second dragon say if I were to ask it if the 3rd dragon had been lying when it agreed with the first one that I could ask only one question

Dragon 1: He’d say, “Yes, the 3rd dragon was lying”

Then I asked a second question addressing the three dragons…… But they remained silent.

And, I solved the puzzle in 90 sec.

So, which dragon is which?

The limiting number in this series is 12
whenever the number becomes more than 12, 12 is deducted from this
1
1 + (2) = 3
3 + (3) = 6
6 + (4) = 10
10 + (5) = 15 – 12 = 3
3 + (6) = 9
9 + (7) = 16 – 12 = 4
4 + (8) = 12
12 + (9) = 21 – 12 = 9
9 + (10) =19 – 12 = 7
7 + (11) =18 – 12 = 6
6 + (12) =18 – 12 = 6
