4 mansions in a line puzzle

In a village there are 4 mansions located at a different Distance from each other.

following are the distances:

3rd mansion is 60km apart from the 1st mansion.

4th mansion is 40km apart from the 2nd mansion.

3rd mansion is 10km nearer to the 4th mansion than it is to the 2nd mansion.

Can u find out the distance b/w the 4th and 1st mansion ?

Lets draw the diagram first

From above diagram we can write this equation

x+10 + x = 40 => 2x = 30 => x = 15

thus distance between 1st and 4th mansion is 60 + x = 75 km

You gave your mom half of them and half an orange
then, you gave your dad half of whats left & half an orange,
Finally you gave your sister half of whats left & half an orange
and the basket became empty.
How many oranges were there in the basket ?

As basket became empty after you gave oranges to your sister, you must be having 1 orange before it.
Now you must be having 3 oranges before you came to your dad(as you gave 1.5 + 0.5 oranges to him)
Similarly you must be having 7 oranges before you came to your mom(as you gave 3.5 + 0.5 oranges to her)
