    jeevamathaiyan:
    Solution :
    1)A-C = (C-D/2)+(B+D)=(14/2)+2=7+2=9
    2)C-D=(A+C)+(B+D)=12+2=14
    3)A+C= (C-D)-(B+D)=14-2=12
    4)B+D=(C-D)-(A+C)=14-12=2

      Because we already know the values of A-B=9,A+C=12,C-D=14 and B+D=2 based on these values we can solve this problem as per my knowledge

    a – b=9
    + +
    c – d=14
    = =
    12 2

    a-b = 9
    a+c = 12
    b+d = 2
    c-d = 14

    c = 14+d
    a = 9+b
    12 = a+c = b+d+23 = 25

    But, 12≠25

    So, This question is IMPOSSIBLE.

    considering the top two squares as a & b, the bottom squares as c & d
    a = 4.5
    b = (-) 4.5
    c = 7.5
    and
    d = √ 42.25 (we take the positive integer)

      Close. The puzzle hinges on the fact that a square root has TWO values.

        a = 4.5
        b = (-) 4.5
        c = 7.5
        and
        d = +-√ 42.2= +6,5 and – 6,5
        ????

          d= √42,25
          √ ist not positive or negative
          for example: 6,5 x 6,5 = 42,25
          -6,5 x -6,5 = 42,25
          same result
          so the result of √42,25 can use as a positive or negative result.
          Sorry for my bad English 🙂

            X^2=42.25 will have 2 answer,one positive and one negative. But square root of 42.25 will only result in one positive answer.
