## 1.) How many squares are in this picture ?

There are a total of 12 squares.

**How?**

Actually finding number of squares in this picture is a little tricky, i would recommend you to take a print out or open the image in Microsoft paint.

Basically idea is to draw diagonals rectangles, now as sides of the squares are parallel (either horizontal or vertical) so diagonals should also be parallel, as the outer most rectangle is nothing but square we should take this as a reference.

I have drawn few yellow lines as diagonals for reference.

**Number of Squares in above image(marked with red): 4**(we will consider other rectangles in next images)

**Number of Squares in above image: 3(in blue) + 3(in green) + 2(in red)**(other 4 rectangles are not squares as their diagonal is not parallel to the yellow lines.)

Thus, total number of squares: 4+3+3+2= 12

## 2.) How many squares are in this picture ?

As in the previous puzzle solution, i have drawn few diagonals, which will help you distinguish between squares and rectangles.

If you are not sure, try again with this picture, it should be easy.

There are a total of 16 squares.

**How?**

**Number of squares in above image: 6( 5 red + 1 blue)**

**Number of squares in above image: 10( 2 black + 2 green + 2 blue + 4(marked 1,2,3,4 in red))**

Thus, Total number of squares in above picture is 16.

## 3.) How many squares are in this picture ?

there are a total of 20 squares.

**How?**

Lets assume that smallest square side(as in the above image) is 0.5 cms, then

Number of squares with side 0.5 cms: 4

Number of squares with side 1 cms: 9

Number of squares with side 1.5 cms: 4

Number of squares with side 2 cms: 2+2+1+1(6)

Number of squares with side 3 cms: 1

Thus, Total number of squares 24.
